About Olesia

OlesiaheadshotI was born in the former Soviet republic of Khyrgizia (now called Kyrgyzstan). I grew up in a village and spent a lot of time working in my family’s garden, growing vegetables and helping my mother and grandmother pickle vegetables and make preserves for the cold winters. We didn’t eat a lot of meat because meat was hard to come by.

My family grew and used herbs and traditional remedies for healing and we did not have much access to conventional medicine. My mother was able to use traditional herbal remedies to heal herself from glomerulonephritis (a potentially deadly kidney disease).

I came to the United States at age 13 and at age 16, I became a model after being featured in a photo spread by renowned fashion photographer Yelena Yemchuk.I was fortunate to become a successful international model and was featured in magazines like Mademoiselle, Cento Cose, (T)here magazine, Georgio Armani’s catalog, a Smashing Pumpkins video and David LaChapelle’s book and I was also hired to do several runway shows.

While working as a model I decided to enroll in Hunter College in New York City and I got a degree in molecular biology. I had originally intended to become a surgeon, but after meeting several people in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) I became fascinated by it and decided to pack my bags and move to California to get a Masters degree in TCM .

I completed a 4 year program in 3 years and have gone on to become an entrepreneur and business owner. I am a licensed acupuncturist in the California and have a practice in San Pedro.

Because of my experience as a model and having lots of makeup applied to my skin, I noticed that make up contained lots of toxic chemicals and left my skin feeling dry and colorless. Today, I wear no makeup at all and I have created an organic herbal product line that nourishes the skin and can be used to heal and replenish the nutrients of your skin.

One of my products is called “the Healer” and it has an herb in it that gives it a nice red color. It is made with organic ingredients and restores moisture to the lips and heals them while giving them a natural red hue. It can also be used to heal rashes, burns and heal skin conditions. It’s like having your very own herbalist in a jar!

I also do rejuvenating acupuncture face-lifts, herbal skin care and work with my partner, Marc Ryan, L.Ac., to provide a full complement of natural services to create great health and skin without using any toxic drugs, chemicals or surgery.

Professionally, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). I am a Licensed Acupuncturist in the State of California, a Diplomat of Oriental Medicine, NCCAOM and I am certified in the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) protocol.
